After the opening day of Junior Open, all leading positions are in the hands of Estonians

On the opening day of Junior Open, which started today at the Estonian Golf & Country Club, the competition started for six competition classes. An Estonian is leading in all these six competition classes, but the competition is intense. There are a total of 94 young golfers from seven countries in the competition, in ten competition classes. 

Timo Raukas (Niitvälja Golf Club) made a very good round in the age group of the oldest young men (U21), who played the opening day -2 (70). He is followed by clubmates Carl Hellat (+4) and Aksel Seppel (+6).

Anete Liis Adul (EGCC) is leading the age group of the oldest girls (U 21), whose opening day round was 74 strokes. She is followed by Anna Marksa (Ozo Golf Club, 82) and Triin-Marleen Ustal (Rae Golf Club, 84).

In probably the most competitive age class the younger age group of 18 and under, Ken-Marten Soo (EGCC), who played par, is leading by the end of first day . His closest chaser is the Hungarian Balint Zavaczki (Pannonia Golf & Country Club), who is just one stroke behind. The third to fifth place has been taken by Finnish players and the sixth is Markus Varjun (Niitvälja Golf Club) with a result of +4.

In the age group of girls of 18 and under, Estonians have dual leadership. The leading position is Karola Soe (Saaremaa Golf & Country Club), whose opening lap was 75 strokes. Mariliis Palm (EGCC) is only one stroke away and Katrina Jana Gustafssone (Viesturi Golf Club) is third with a result of +12.

Richard Teder (Rae Golf Club) played the best result of the day in the age group of young men of 16 years and under. With four birdies, the final result was -4. The nearest chaser, Francis Gavars (Ozo Golf Club), is five strokes away. The third place is shared by Rae Golf Club player Ralf Johan Kivi and Pickala Golf Club player Max Berber, the opening rounds were +2.

In the U16 age group of girls, the leader was 14-year-old Elizaveta Sofia Reemet (Ambrosiano), whose round resulted in 78 strokes. She is followed by Liv Lemström (Pickala Golf Club, +8) and Lea Sara Stern (Pannonia Golf Club) +11. Hannah Õunap from Valgeranna Golf Club, only 11 years old, is fourth, whose result was +12 today.

Tomorrow the youngest age groups will start – U12 and U14, whose competition will last for two days.
