European Seniors’ Individual Championships
The European Seniors’ Individual Golf Championships will bring together 144 of the best male and female golfers. In total, players from 28 different countries will take part, some of them from outside Europe as this is an open championship. Organising the European Championship in Estonia will help to promote both the golf courses in Estonia and Estonia more widely as a tourist destination.
The aim of the project is to organise the competitions at the best possible level, so that all participants have a positive impression of Estonia to pass on. To raise the profile of Estonia’s golf courses among European players and, through this, increase the number of golf tourists coming to Estonia each year. Once a country has been granted with the right to organise a tournament, some players will come to a course a year in advance for a pre-tour, and if they have a good impression of the country, they will usually return to try other courses later.
The project has been supported by the European Regional Development Fund, the EAS support measure for international sport and cultural events, the grant amount is 26 537,00 euros.
