Junior Open: Top Estonians Turba and Teder

Estonians were victorious in two age groups at the three-day Junior Open golf tournament in Otepää. Gallery

Joonas Juan Turba demonstrated his good shape in the age group with the severest competition, U18 for boys, securing the first place in the group with the final result +1. Joonas completed the best round of the three days with ‒2, also performing an eagle at the par-6 hole. Second place went to Kevin Christopher Jegers (+15) who was one stroke ahead of Rasmus Pietilä (+16).

Richard Teder got the best result (+21) in the boys’ age group U14, also completing the best round with 78 strokes, earning +5. Second place went to Lithuanian Valentas Ivančenka (+41) and third place to Sean Tavis (+46), a representative of EGCC.

In the age group U21, Sten Erik Soo (+34) had to surrender the lead to Finn Otto Tolvanen (+26) on the last three holes.

In the boys U16 age group, Finns claimed the first two places. First place went to Erik Schroderus (+37) and second to Vertti Perälä (+41). Third place went to Nils Illimar Esko (+51), playing in his home club.

Finnish Wilma Merenmies was victorious with +23 in the group of the oldest girls. Second and third place went to Latvia: Marija Jučmane finished with +33 and Katrina Gustafssone with +34. Anete Liis Adul was sixth with +55.

The first place in the youngest mixed-gender group (U12) went to Lithuania when Giedrius Mackelis secured victory with +19. Only nine-year-old Hannah Pearson Õunap landed at second place with her 115-metre hole-in-one, scoring +43, and Finn Roni Uusitalo earned the third place with +51.
