Today marked the conclusion of the European Ladies’ Team Shield Championship in Bulgaria, where the Estonian women’s team repeated last year’s success by winning the bronze medal. In the decisive match, they defeated Malta with a score of 2.5–0.5.

In the foursomes match, Anete Liis Adul and Kristella Sikk dominated from the start, securing a 5&4 victory. The first singles player, Kirke Kiige, maintained a solid lead throughout her match and also won 5&4. Team anchor Iiris Mätas led her match but settled for a halved result, as the overall victory was already secured.

Team captain Anete Liis Adul commented on the tournament: “Throughout the week, we had great chemistry and teamwork. We all played good golf over the four days. Unfortunately, we faced Turkey in the first round and came up short, but in the next two matches, we played very well and consistently, securing third place.”

This year’s championship was won by Luxembourg, who defeated last year’s champion Turkey 2–1 in the final. Interestingly, last year the Estonian women’s team claimed bronze by defeating Luxembourg.
