Joonas Turba took part in the Spanish U18 Open Championship at Sherry Golf Jerez in Spain this weekend and reached the 16th place among 86 players. Turbas rounds were 75, 72, 75 and 75, giving a total score of +9. After four rounds, Turba made two eagles, but started Thursday’s round with a 8 on a difficult par-4 course. The victory stayed home this time. Alvaro Mueller-Baumgart Lucena won thanks to the excellent final round, his result was -4 (76, 70, 72, 66). Only two players were able to play under par. Results

For the first short comment Turba said he played poorly! “Every day made a bigger mess than the last.” Joonas added with a smile. “It’s not easy in you start the competition with a quattro, but luckily I was able to keep the game beautiful. I made 5 birdies. On the third day there was a big breeze where the whole field was playing worse than the day before, I was just trying to get par and avoid the trouble. On the last day I had some trouble hitting and pounding iron, luckily I got back in the game. All in all, I’m a little disappointed, I played pretty steady until I made some mistakes and so big numbers came together that ruined the overall result. ”Joonas said in conclusion of the four-day tournament.

The WAGR leaderboard is being updated already this Wednesday and by all signs the Turba table could rise slightly.
