The three-day R&A Girls’ U16 Amateur Championship, the unofficial world championship for girls aged 16 and under, ended today at Enville Golf Club in England. Estonian representative Elizaveta Sofia Reemet (Estonian Golf & Country Club) returns from the tournament in 9th place! Reemet had rounds of 74, 80, 75 with a total of +13.<\/p>\n
The win went to Scotland, with Grace Crawford finishing with +4 (73, 75, 72). Crawford has previously finished fifth in a tournament held at the same venue last year. Isla McDonald-O’Brien of England came second with a score of +8 (77, 75, 72). Poland’s Kinga Ku\u015bmierska finished third with the same score, Rosie Bee Kim was fourth with +10. Latvia’s Katrina Bulkovska finished 29th with +21, but she took a high third place in the under-14 special prize. Results<\/a><\/p>\n Reemet’s third-round result on the 15th left a glimmer of doubt, where the Estonian earned a penalty after the kick-off as it was not possible to continue under the trees. In addition, she ended up in the bunker of the green on her fourth shot and a course score of 7 meant big trouble on the par-4 course. On this course, a few players scored a double bogey today, but no one scored a seven. As a reminder, the fourth place who also received a prize today (in addition to first place, places 2nd to 4th were awarded a medal) was exactly three shots away.<\/p>\n However, Reemet herself had this to say about his competition: “I had some problems with chips and some drives yesterday, but I practiced them and today was much better. I think I need to revise my distances with irons a bit, because I noticed that after Georgia the shots got longer. All in all, it was a really good course and I thoroughly enjoyed putting. Today, for example, I didn’t miss a single putt that was at a real distance.”<\/p>\n Reemet thus became the second Estonian to finish in the top 10 in R&A tournaments.
