David Da Silva has been appointed head coach of Finland’s national team
David Da Silva, who has served as the head coach of the Estonian men’s national team since 2023, will take up a new role with the Finnish national team starting November 1. His official title will be Technical Head Coach.
As a result, his final tournament as head coach of Team Estonia will be the World Amateur Team Championships, held next month in Singapore.
During Da Silva’s tenure, the Estonian men’s team achieved a 4th place finish at the 2024 European Championships, among other highlights. Additionally, several players secured individual tournament victories under his leadership. Over the years, he has also personally coached the entire core of the current national team at various stages of their careers.
David Da Silva: “The World Team Championships from October 8–11 will be my final time as head coach of the Estonian men’s team. It marks the culmination of an incredible three-year journey, during which I’ve had the privilege of leading a group of young, talented players who have delivered inspiring performances both individually and as a team, making us all very proud. Over the past 10 years, I’ve also had the opportunity to personally coach most of these players, from juniors to elite-level amateurs, achieving outstanding results together. None of this would have been possible without the support of the Estonian golf community, for which I’m extremely grateful. I feel that I’ve taken this group as far as I can as a unified team, and now it’s time for the next step, moving into the professional level.”
Kristo Raudam, General Secretary of the Estonian Golf Association: “David Da Silva’s contribution to Estonian golf over the past 10 years is likely even greater than we can fully grasp today. His impact as a personal coach to many players has been invaluable. Over the past three years, under his leadership, the men’s national team has achieved results that will be very hard to replicate. On behalf of myself and the entire Estonian Golf Association, I want to sincerely thank David and wish him the very best as he takes on the challenge of leading the Finnish national team to new heights.”
