Junior Open tees off at Estonian Golf & Country Club
The three-day Estonian Junior Open teed off today at the Estonian Golf & Country Club, bringing together 142 players from nine different countries. On the opening day, players from the eight oldest age groups took to the course, with Estonians claiming the lead in exactly half of those categories.
In the Boys U21 age group, the top two spots were claimed by home club representatives Robin Udodov and Ruut Kangust, who played 75 and 76 strokes respectively. Santtu Tiusanen (Vierumäen Golfseura) is in third place with a score of 78. Results
In the oldest Girls U21 age group, only Estonian players are participating. After the first day, Danielle Truusa from the home club leads with a score of 78. Results
In the Boys U18 category, the top three players represent three different countries. After the first day, the leader is Noah Gratil (Royal Malta Golf Club), playing under the Belgian flag, who scored 71 (-1). Two years ago, he won the U16 category at the Estonian Junior Open. Ilkka Jaakola (Nurmijärven Golfklubi), who shot par, is in second place, followed by the best Estonian, Hart Oskar Aoveer (Rae Golf Club), with a score of 73. Results
In the Girls U18 category, Roosi Ristal is in the lead, making use of her home course advantage. She scored 75 on the first day and leads by one stroke over strong Latvian competitor Katrina Bulkovska (Ozo Golf Club). Results
In the Boys U16 category, Estonians are currently not among the top four. The leader is Alex Westerholm (Tapiola Golf), who delivered the best result of the day with a 69 (-3). The nearest pursuer, Rafael Sankari (Helsingin Golfklubi), trails by six strokes. Results
In the Girls U16 category, the top three are all Estonians. Iiris Mätas (Rae Golf Club) scored 72, Kristella Sikk (Niitvälja Golf Club) 74, and Kirke Kiigel (Rae Golf Club) 75. Results
In the Boys U14 category, Dominykas Petkevičius (Wolf Golf Club) leads after the first round with a score of 75. Kris Kuusk (Saaremaa Golf & Country Club) is two strokes behind. Results
In the Girls U14 category, Keita Dzirniece (Ozo Golf Club) leads after day one with a result of 83. Two players from the home club are in second and third place: Nora Marleen Animägi scored 84 and Loore Filipjev 87. Results
Tomorrow, boys and girls under the age of 12 will begin their two-day competition.
