On Tuesday, the second round of the U.S. Amateur Championship was played, determining which players advanced directly to the playoff and which lucky few got an additional chance Wednesday morning to qualify for the top 64. Richard Teder’s opening round of 73 left him in contention to make the cut on the second day. The start of his second round looked promising, but from the fourth hole onward, his game faltered, and he ultimately carded an 84 for a total of +17.

Top seed Preston Stout (WAGR 4) led the two-day stroke play with a total of -8 (67, 65), while 2023 champion Tommy Morrison (WAGR 6) claimed the second seed. Three players from the world top 10—Ethan Fang (3), Michael La Sasso (8), and Jack Turner (10)—failed to make the cut.

Teder commented after the tournament that the time zone difference had affected him all week, preventing him from finding the right rhythm throughout the event.

In the opening round, two of the biggest names in European amateur golf—former champion Tommy Morrison and reigning European champion Filip Jakubčík—were both eliminated, losing in the playoff rounds.
