Half of the first places stayed in Estonia at Junior Open

Today, the three-day long competition Estonian Junior Open ended at the Estonian Golf & Country Club. There was a record number (130) of players participating from 10 different countries. In exactly half of the 10 competition classes, Estonian players won. Three first places travelled to Latvia, one to Finland and one to Malta.

In the U21 boys’ class, Markus Varjun (Niitvälja Golf Club) defended his title. His winning result was +1 (74, 69, 74). The second place travelled to Latvia thanks to Francis Gavars (Ozo Golf Club) who lost by 16 strokes and the third place belonged to Finley Gratil from Malta (Royal Malta Golf Club). Results

In the U21 girls’ competition class, Nicky Zoe Lautre (Estonian Golf & Country Club) was crowned winner with the result +18 (78, 77, 79). The second place belonged to her fellow club member Lill Kangust and Maarja Malva (Rae Golf Club) finished third. Results

In the U18 boys’ class, the winning cup also stayed in Estonia, as Ralf Johan Kivi (Niitvälja Golf Club) finished with the result −1 (72, 73, 70). The second and the third place travelled to Finland. Luukas Kruut (Lahden Golf) lost by 12 and Hugo Nylund (Nurmijärvi Golf Club) by 15 strokes. Results

In the U18 girls’ age class, Elizaveta Sofia Reemet (Estonian Golf & Country Club) managed to keep the winner’s cup in Estonia thanks to a strong last day. Her final score was +14 (80, 76, 74). Lina Lindqvist (Lahden Golf) lost by three and the Lithuanian Rugilė Pauliukonytė (Capitals Golf Club) by six strokes. Results

In the U16 boys’ competition class, the winning cup travelled to Malta. Noah Gratil (Royal Malta Golf Club) finished with the result +3 (73, 74, 72). Rasmus Kivila Jr (Niitvälja Golfiklubi) lost by four strokes and the third place went to Santeri Tyynelä (Pickala Golf Club). Results

In the U16 girls’ class, the Latvian Katrina Bulkovska (Ozo Golf Club) won with the result +2 (74, 72, 72). Hannah Õunap (Valgeranna Golf Club) played a −2 on the last day and lost only by two strokes and the third place belonged to Iiris Ahti (Nordcenter Golf & CC). Results

In the U14 boys’ class, Estonians sadly had no place being in the top three. Thanks to a great last day, the Latvian Domeniks Tralmaks (Ozo Golf Club) snatched the win with the result +24 (87, 78, 75). The second and the third place travelled to Finland. Lukas Sovijärvi (Nurmijärvi Golf Club) lost by six strokes and Rafael Sankari (Helsinki Golf Club) by nine. Results

In the U14 girls’ class, Iiris Mätas (Rae Golf Club) and Ella Miserini (Aulanko Golf) had a great duel. At the beginning of the last day, the Finn held a one-stroke lead, but the Estonian junior national team member showed a great game on the last day, played a hole par and finally won with a six-stroke lead. Iiris’s rounds were 83, 78 and 72 strokes. The third place belonged to the Finnish player Oona Nousiainen (Hyvinkää Golf). Results

In the U12 boys’ age class, Lionel Mutikainen (Pickala Golf Club) whose winning result was +8 (73, 79) showed class. The second place belonged to the Lithuanian Dominykas Petkevičius (Wolf Golf Club) and the third place to Niilo Jakola (Tapiola Golf). Marcus Latt (Niitvälja Golf Club) who tied for the second place after the opening day was forced to quit the competition due to an illness. Results

In the competition class for the youngest girls, the Latvian Keita Dzirniece (Ozo Golf Club) took home the win. The second place travelled to Finland on a Tallink ship. Henni Kokko (Golf Pirkkala) was better than Brenda Paalberg (Niitvälja Golf Club) by only one stroke. Results
