At the Dormy Open in Sweden, Mattias Varjun finished tied for 31st. After a strong finish on Friday evening moved him safely inside the cut line, Varjun carded a 69 on Sunday to finish the tournament on 280 strokes, level par. The result earned him 15.2 ranking points and €2,280 in prize money. Varjun moved up five places to 143rd in the HotelPlanner Tour rankings. The tournament was won by 34-year-old Swede Christofer Blomstrand with a score of 269 (-11), moving him to the top of the HotelPlanner Tour rankings. It was the third HPT title of his career and his second win of the season, having also triumphed in August. Blomstrand’s compatriot David Lundgren and South African Wilco Nienaber shared second place. The other four Estonians — Carl Hellat, Kevin Christopher Jegers, Markus Varjun and Ralf Johan Kivi — missed the cut this time.

Mattias Varjun’s post-tournament comments: “It was a demanding course and the conditions were fairly difficult throughout the week. I can be very pleased with how I handled them. Making the cut was once again a great result. There were some very good moments in my game as well as some less successful stretches, but overall, considering how I played, I put together a very solid tournament.”

The tour continues next weekend in Poland, where six Estonians will be in the field.
