Estonian Match Play Open is an international championship for all male and female golfers. Estonian Match Play Open Masters will be announced after last the match.
Competition starts with qualification round, after 1st round 28 male players and 8 female players get a placing in the play-off. The logic of the formation of the match play will be described in the competition manual.
Professional and non-professional players are also welcome to the competition.
The competition is recognised as a WAGR event.
Saaremaa Golf Centre is located just a quarter of an hour’s walk from the centre of Kuressaare and its unique attractions – the castle, the beach and the spas. The golf course was fully opened in August 2008.
The 18-hole, full-size course was designed by renowned Finnish golf architect Lassi Pekka Tilander, with the aim of creating a championship-style golf course suitable for international tournaments.
The Saaremaa golf course is an 18-hole par 72, measuring 6310 metres from the back tees. The course is bordered by a 2.6 hectare driving range, which allows up to 30 golfers to practise on the course at the same time. There are also bunkers and greens for chipping and putting. The practice area opposite the clubhouse also has two par-3 courses, where anyone can practice close-up play and experience the thrill of playing on the course for free.
The course was opened with the first competition on 15 August 2008. In thirteen seasons the course has become one of the nicest courses in Estonia. With the current course setup, all golfers, regardless of their level, have the opportunity to challenge themselves and experience the thrill of every round. The course has crowned the winners of the Estonian Amateur Open on seven occasions and the Estonian stroke play champions on one occasion.
