The best of mid-amateurs: Roosipuu and Esken

Allan Roosipuu from Valgeranna Golf Club and Anneli Esken from Estonian Golf & Country Club were crowned the winners of the Mid-Am Open by Assa Abloy, which ended yesterday.
The scores of the players who defied the strong wind and storm on the second day of the competition were somewhat more modest due to the weather in Pärnu Bay, but most of the players fought bravely to the end.

Allan Roosipuu got his first title in the men’s class, with a final score of +12 (73, 83). Harly Soppe (EGCC) took the second place in the open class and also the silver medal of the Estonian championship, by loosing to the winner with only two strokes. His playing rounds 78, 80, which gave a total score of +14. There should have been a play-off between Roosipuu and Soppe, but due to the player’s own mistake, the result on the scorecard was two strokes higher, which cost him the possible victory. The third place in the Open class traveled to Finland to Jaako Surama (Suur-Helsingin Golf) who also had a result of +14 (75, 83), the result of the second day was decisive according to the instructions. Estonian champion bronze medal went to the leader of the first day Kristo Tullus (Rae Golf Club), who played +15 (72, 87). The first 13th place included players from four countries. Results

The women’s triple victory traveled to the Estonian Golf & Country Club. Anneli Esken got her sixth Estonian mid-amateur championship title with the Open class victory, her result was +22 (78, 88). Anu Uuemõis was second +31 (nine, 78) with nine strokes more and last year’s winner Apawan Chinglek became third +33 (91, 86) as a result of a good second day. However, the bronze medal of the Estonian championship goes to the representative of Niitvälja Golf Club, to Kristina Kuzmenok, her result was +35 (89, 90). Results
